ASF Ministries: Specific Ministries

ASF Ministry: Specific Ministries.SPECIFIC MINISTRIES

As we have prayed about the growth of the ASF, there have been certain specific functions we have identified as critical to growth. These include:

  1. Ordained Ministries
  2. Prayer Ministries
  3. Pastoral Support
  4. Welcoming and Membership Support
  5. Liaison and Administrative Support
  6. Technical Support

1.  Ordained Ministries:

We are particularly interested in encouraging retired clergy to participate as volunteers either at the local level in the life of individual Circles or in the development of ministries with the ASF. Retired clergy  can easily feel isolated from the church that has been their life and their career, but have much wisdom and experience in many areas  to contribute, not least in providing potential resources to allow for the celebration of the Eucharist. Other retired clergy may have a specific interest in contributing their experience in counselling or other forms of pastoral care.

For instance, we have discussed the potential of developing a “circuit rider program” of clergy to support  local circles. This idea has not yet progressed beyond the concept stage, but as Circles are formed the ASF will need help in developing a framework for providing pastoral and liturgical support. There may also be potential for the development of a perpetual diaconate to serve in this area.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

Are you a retired Anglican priest or deacon who might be interested in helping us to explore some of these possibilities?

Do you know a retired Anglican priest or deacon who might be interested?

2.  Prayer Ministries

As the birth of the ASF has been founded on prayer, so prayer continues to be its lifeblood. We need prayer warriors to engage in this work.

Our most urgent priority is for a Prayer Coordinator who will give oversight and guidance to the growth and vitality of Prayer ministries for the ASF.

We  also need individuals to develop and operate an intercessory prayer chain to collect and distribute intercessory prayer for the members and the ministries of the ASF and its Circles.

The prayers of other faithful Christians over the ages can be a wonderful source of comfort and connection to the fellowship of the saints. Another fruitful ministry would be to provide an ongoing stream of prayer resources and access to prayer training  via the website.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

Is there an aspect of these prayer ministries that God may be calling you to?

3.  Pastoral Support

As the ASF expands and as Circles are established, there will be a growing need for individuals in specific pastoral areas, including such skills as:

  • Developing a virtual “spiritual medic service” to assist individuals in crisis
  • Developing a program to help in finding and  recovering “lost sheep”

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

Do you have pastoral training?

Is this an area where you might be able to provide advice or assistance when needed?

Do you know of someone with pastoral training who might be interested?

4.  Welcoming And Membership Support

A vital part of the ASF involves welcoming newcomers and keep track of membership in order to identify and respond to their needs. Specific functions might include:

  • Serving as Membership Secretary – keeping track of member information.
  • Serving as a “virtual” greeter for the ASF, emailing new members to welcome them.
  • Providing orientation  and help to newcomers.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

Do you have secretarial training and experience?

Do you have greeting/hospitality experience?

Is this an area where you would be able to contribute your talents of hospitality, encouragement and organization?

Do you know someone with experience in these areas who might be interested?

5.  Liaison And Administrative  Services

Maintaining the connections between the ASF and ANiC  on administrative and financial matters is an essential task as is providing liaison and advice to local Circles.

We have a specific need for a Treasurer for the ASF.

It would also be very helpful to have one or more individuals to stay in touch with Circles and to help them to connect with each other.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

Do you have bookkeeping/accounting training and/or experience?  Would you be willing to volunteer as a Treasurer?

Do you have administrative experience  Would you be able and willing to help as a liaison?

Do you know someone who might be interested in either of these ministries?

SEND US YOUR FEEDBACK!

6.  Technical Support

Another specific area of need is to have one or more individuals with the technical knowledge and skill to help us integrate and keep up to date the technologies that enable us to serve and to connect our members.  This includes the technology we currently use – WordPress, GoToMeeting – as well as other technologies that might be useful now or in future, such as Google Hangouts On Air, YouTube videos, Twitter, LinkedIn, audio recording, etc.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

Are you experienced with WordPress?  GoToMeeting?  Other online-meeting software?  Google/YouTube/Twitter/other social media?

Is this an area where you might be able to help?
